ByLaw Updates

At this Tuesday’s Awards Banquet, we’ll be holding our Annual General Meeting. In addition to the election of Board Members, we’ll also be voting on a few changes to our Bylaws. These changes include:

  • Changing Board Member terms to two years rather than the current one year, and implementing a staggered approach. This better ensures stability of the Board over the years. This change will take effect with the 2019-2020 elections.
  • Implementing a maximum of two 2-year terms in any one Board role, which will also take effect with the 2019-2020 elections.
  • Requiring only one General Meeting per year rather than the current two.The Board can still call for other General Meetings if necessary
  • Adding Concessions Chairperson and Sponsorship Chairperson as non-voting Board Members. As non-voting Board Members, they receive a discounted registration fee for one swimmer. These are being added to the Board as both Concessions and Sponsorships are critical to our success as a team, as they enable us to raise money from other sources besides registration fees so we can keep those fees low.
  • Clearly defining the minimum age for participation in FAST Frogs programs as being 4 years old by July 1st of the season year.
  • Updating the Bylaws to include Lessons as one of the Forest Area Swim Team programs.
  • Realigning certain Board responsibilities among the Board Members.
