Ribbit Review May 4, 2010

Highlights from the first week of practice

Welcome Frogs,  most of the information that you will need for the upcoming weeks will be
sent in the weekly Ribbit Review.  We are here to answer any questions that you may have,
just send us an email.

Great first week of practice
Our hats are off to all those brave Fast Frogs that stuck it out the first week of practice.  We
had a minor pump malfunction the first day of practice, but our pool company, Commercial
Swim, worked like gangbusters and the green water cleared up by the second day.  We
appreciate everyone being so patient during this time.
Even though the water was still a little chilly you Frogs did a great job.

From the Coaches
Great job the first week of practice! We saw much dedication, determination and excitement
from all or our FAST FROGS. Keep up the good work, and  remember to bring your kick
board, goggles and fins to practice every day.

Equipment
Team Swim Caps and Decals are on their way, if you ordered one check your family folder on
Monday, May 10, to see if yours is in there.

Family Folders
Please be sure to check your family folder daily starting Monday, May 10.  Folders will be in
alphabetical order.  Next week when we split pools your folder will be at the pool of your
youngest Frog swimmer unless you would like it at the other pool,  just drop a note in the
board folder letting us know which pool you would prefer.  If you only have a Tadpole swimmer
then  the folder will be at FCIII pool starting on May 10.

on right arm. DO NOT WRITE OR DRAW ANYTHING ELSE ON SWIMMERS (team tattoos
are fine)! Let's show the other teams our sportsmanship...  Make sure to volunteer
to help at the last two meets, we have had a great turn out so far and your help is
greatly appreciated.  We could not do this for the kiddos without your help.

If you can't beat em .... bribe em .....

Congratulations to the Dad's team for taking the relay cheese this weekend at the
Twin Creek's invitational.  The Dad's had the good sense to grab a ringer from the
Mom squad, our very own Susan Carrigan.  Those close to the negotiations believe
that in exchange for her services, Susan demanded a lofty price.  So if you see her
tooling around the neighborhood in a silver Porsche over the next few weeks, you'll
know why.  And it's a good thing they grabbed her too as she had to swim down the
Twin Creek's anchor from a fifteen meter head start by the time she hit the water.

Good job Dad's Plus One.  Susan C and the Pips?

Champs June 28, 2009
Please start signing up for champs on Thursday June 18, 2009 in the binders at the
pool.
You must swim in two meets and have a legal time in the event in which you wish to
swim in.  You may pick your event that you would like to swim.  Please start this
process early we will not be allowed to enter any late entries.
We need your help at Champs volunteers, please use the volunteer link to sign up
to help.  If you do not volunteer at Champs you will be sitting in the stands and are
not going to be allowed on deck during the meet. So if you would like to stay close
to your little ones and be where the action is you will need to volunteer.

Ribbit Review

Meet with Great Hills:Get ready Frogs, we are hosting our first swim meet this Saturday. Check
the link under Meet Schedule for a map to Gilliland Pool. Show up time is 6:45, warm ups are
at 7:00 and the meet starts at 8:00am.

Sign up for meet:Sign up for next weeks with Westover, use the binder at

the pool next to the family folders.  Remember if you do not sign up, the coaches will not know
if you are swimming or not, and you will not be entered in the meet.

Marking Swimmers
To help the early morning go smoother, PLEASE make sure you have your name on your
right, rear shoulder and your right arm marked with all your event, heat, and lane numbers

diagram is on meet info page on website
. When swimmers show up with
this done, it leaves enough time for the age group parents to fill in the relay details. There
should only be 2 things written on swimmers: name on shoulder and events on right arm. DO
NOT WRITE OR DRAW ANYTHING ELSE ON SWIMMERS (team tattoos
are fine)! Let's show the other teams our sportsmanship

Heat Sheet: Please don't forget your heat sheet, you will be able to print it out Friday night
on the Meet Schedule web page.

What to Bring to a meet     ** Please label everything**

Team Uniforms:
Team suit or black suit
Team shirt & cap
Swim cap (if you choose to wear one);
Plenty of towels, goggles, sunglasses, and SUNSCREEN.
Warm clothing (early mornings OUTSIDE can be cool).
Chairs, blankets, or sleeping bags to sit on.
Shade/tarp if you have one.
Out of courtesy , we ask everyone to please pick up after
themselves...
Goals:  Have fun and relax!  Take care of yourself!  Encourage Teammates

Parking at the meet: Please park in the back  lot when you come in, we would like to leave
the front lot open as a courtesy to Great Hills. There will be signs and balloons, directing you
to the back parking lot. We could use some one to help direct traffic to this lot, if any one is
interested.  We can't let another pregnant lady to help direct parking again. Although she did
a great job last year, thanks Tanya.

Volunteers:  Even though you have signed up on the registration sheets, please check our
website for volunteer sign up, we have put a link on the volunteer page at the top, just click on
it to sign up for the meets. Mike really wants everyone to sign up this way, it is easier for all
involved.  It would make him really happy if you used his new toy, he is so proud of this find.
Tadpoles you are not required to sign up for meets until your swimmer is competing in the
meets..

Age group parents: If you have signed up to be an age group parent, we are holding a small
clinic to help prepare you for meet day.  The clinic will be held on Thursday May 28, 2009 at
the Lake Forest Clubhouse at  7:00 pm.  If you are new to age group parenting I think you will
find this clinic very helpful.  Remember parents, we cannot run a successful meet without your
help, please sign up on the volunteer spot, you can use the link sent to you or you can use
the link on the volunteer page on the website www.fastfrogs...net  Part of the requirement to
be on the team is volunteering to help.

Manga Pizza After Meet:

Don’t forget to join the team at Mangia after the meet!  Mangia will be offering a buffet for the
FAST families (kids and adults) to include a selection of 5 pizzas, salad and drinks.  The cost
will be $5.00 for kids (13 and under) and $8.00 for adults.  The pricing includes the tip.  The
Mangia staff will run individual tabs for each family in order to make the option of ordering
additional/alternative items from the menu available.  Each table/group within the restaurant
will have a server to bring them drinks and
additional menu items ordered, and who will also serve as cashier.  If you plan to order off the
menu, remember to buy a $20 Mangia food coupon.  This can be used to pay for menu items
only (not including alcoholic beverages) and half the value of the coupon goes back to the
swim team. The buffet will be available after the meet is over. Thanks, Mangia!
